Description
An Australian Barbera that actually tastes like barbera is not easy to come by. But here it is from Chris Coulter and the amazing team at Coulter Wines. Awarded 94pts by Halliday Wine Companion, the wine displays aromas of smoky charcuterie with underlying dark cherry fruits and sweet spices. The wine has a deep, dense purple to black colour , with a rich, supple, plush palate full of black fruited spice, crunchy acidity and chewy tannins. Not a complex wine, but structurally profound and spot on as a varietal masterpiece. Whole bunch picked and hand plunged then manually basket pressed into oak for 5 months for alight structural touch. Drinks exceptionally well young, but will also cellar for 8-10 years. Serve with tomato based pasta, pizza or lamb fillets.
