Description
This Heart & Home Dry Red from Head Wines and renown Young Gun Winemaker Alex Head really pays homage to the traditional Australian ‘Dry Red’ style that firmly put Barossa and Australian red wine on the international wine map. A true masterclass in how to make wine quality better through the art of blending the two ‘hero’ varieties of the Barossa – Shiraz (21%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (79%). An old’s cool classic with a dark purple rim, beautiful aromas of blackberry and olive leading to a palate filled rich dark fruit, baked earth characters, a dense chunky mouthfeel and very satisfying savoury, rustic finish. Awarded 93 points by the Real Review calling this “a remarkable exercise in controlled power at seriously good value pricing”. Hard to argue with that! Drinks beautifully as a young wine but will cellar well for at least 5-7 years. Serve with a rosemary & garlic roasted lamb rack, grilled field mushrooms with parmesan or maybe some beef teriyaki.
