Description
A fresh new vintage of our bestselling Sauvignon Blanc, beautifully crafted into an unexpectedly complex and dry French style. The beautiful Taltarni vineyard in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria was established some 50 years ago, after being discovered by John Goelet, a direct descendant of the Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux, in a worldwide search for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. And from this exceptional site, Taltarni consistently produces wines of elegance and balance that uniquely express the terroir of this picturesque region, while also proudly implementing environmentally friendly practices that will ensure the long-term quality of their grapes. Winemakers Robert Heywood & Ben Howell have certainly paid homage to these traditions with this wine, using grapes from two great climatic regions, Tasmania and Victoria, then ageing on lees with regular battonage resulting in an elegant and subtle complexity that matches the refined yet full flavours. The wine has also seen a small amount of time in oak to further add to the texture and lingering finish, and greets you with vibrant tropical and fresh fruit aromas, integrating with the flavours of lime, passionfruit and white peach, driving the palate with natural, dry acidity. There is an unexpected complexity and persistence of fruit, perfectly complemented by the depth of palate. A great match with fresh seafood and soft cheeses.
