A bold and beautifully composed classic red Bordeaux style blend that speaks to both structure and harmony – with Cabernet leading the way, supported by a carefully orchestrated ensemble of Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 2022 vintage delivered ideal ripening conditions, allowing for depth, balance and confident expression across every component. In the glass, it shows a deep, dark red hue, rich and commanding. The nose is intense and inviting, layered with ripe blackberries and blueberries, offering both power and purity of fruit. The palate is complex and structured, with bold, finely grained tannins that drive length and presence. Dark fruit sits at the core, framed by savoury notes of dried herbs and a subtle influence of French oak, adding both polish and depth. There’s a sense of precision here – where richness meets restraint, and each element plays its part. Each variety was individually harvested, crafted and matured for 14 months in French oak before being brought together, resulting in a wine that is both classic in style and compelling in its layered complexity. A natural partner for slow-cooked meats, rich braises or a perfectly grilled steak, this is a wine made for generous meals and long evenings around the table. Drinking beautifully now with decanting, while offering excellent cellaring potential over the next decade and beyond, where further integration and nuance will continue to unfold.

MARGARET RIVER
CHURCHVIEW
2022
13.5
Churchview is a family-run estate with deep roots in the Margaret River region, named after the heritage-listed St Johns Anglican Church that still watches over the vineyards today. The land itself has seen generations of settlers and growers, each leaving their mark — from early 1920s dairy farmers to the father-and-son team, Spike and Raymond Fokkema, who planted their first vines here in 1999.
With its fertile gravelly loam soils, clean water, and north-facing slopes, Churchview has grown into a thriving 100-hectare property with 56 hectares under vine and 16 varieties in play — each cultivated, crafted, and cherished with care.
Over the years, they’ve taken their stewardship of the land seriously, transforming a once-conventional farm into a fully certified organic vineyard (certified 2020) — a testament to their long-term vision and respect for nature.
