Description

This is truly a boutique, small-batch wine of exceptional quality showcasing fully what the brilliant winemakers at Ortus can do. In the making of this beautiful red, selectivity to create boldness was key, with only six vines from the whole property selected to hand-pick for its creation. Then only two one-year old French Oak barrels were carefully selected to host the entire batch, creating a lovely balance between fruit flavour and oak complexity, before the wine was aged for 18-months and hand-bottled. The result is an exceptional wine with intense forest fruit and blueberry aromas and a deep inky purple colour immediately showing the seriousness of the wine. A rich and bold palate continues with violet, blackberry, and cracked black pepper with vanilla notes and bold tannins working in perfect harmony with the fruit. Drinks beautifully already but can also cellar for another 8-10 years. Serve with game casseroles, beef steaks or a slow cooked Texas style brisket.
