A top-flight red that makes a compelling case for Margaret River Shiraz, this Single Vineyard release from St Johns Brook combines vibrancy, depth and finesse in equal measure. Sourced from the estate’s premium Shiraz block, it reflects both careful site selection and a thoughtful, hands-on approach in the cellar. The nose is intense and bright, opening with mulberry and blood plum, layered with clove, ground pepper and a subtle cedary oak influence. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied yet expressive, unfolding with energy and precision. Silky texture and fine, polished tannins carry the fruit through to a long, composed finish. Whole berries and a portion of whole bunch fruit were incorporated during fermentation to build structure and complexity. Fermented in small open vessels with regular punch-downs, the wine was then matured in a mix of French and Hungarian hogsheads, with 20% new oak contributing shape and depth without overwhelming the fruit. Drinking beautifully already, yet built with the balance and structure to cellar confidently for another decade.
