Another great vintage of our awesome bestseller from Taltarni and the T Series Shiraz continues to over-deliver in its price range. The beautiful Taltarni vineyard in the Pyrenees wine region of Victoria was established some 50 years ago, after being discovered by John Goelet, a direct descendant of the Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux, in a worldwide search for a site comparable to the great vineyards of Bordeaux. And from this exceptional site, Taltarni consistently produces wines of elegance and balance that uniquely express the terroir of this picturesque region, while also proudly implementing environmentally friendly practices that will ensure the long-term quality of their grapes.
The new 2019 vintage of the T Series Shiraz sits well within these ideals, showing a rich red brick colour and boasting aromas of dark forest fruit with notes of white pepper and light spices. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with overly silky tannins, vibrant red fruit and a hint of oak that lingers in a luscious, persistent and surprisingly complex finish.
The wine will drink beautifully now but will also age well for at least another 5 years.
A great match with slow-cooked beef or a beautiful lamb roast.
TASTING NOTES
Taltarni’s latest collection of wines, the Dynamic range, takes inspiration from the surrounding environment where the grapes are grown. These wines offer a more refreshing and fruit-focused taste compared to their traditional counterparts, and have reduced levels of tannins. The 2019 Dynamic Shiraz, with its enticing aromas of red berries and subtle spices, showcases a complex and fruity palate with impressive depth of flavor and well-balanced tannins that contribute to a delightful finish. This wine is defined by the regional characteristics of the Pyrenees, as well as other cool-climate vineyards in Victoria. It pairs perfectly with barbecued meats or slow-cooked stews, and is already drinking well. For those who prefer to age their wines, it can be cellared for up to ten years with excellent results.
