Tyrrell?s Single Vat flagship wines are world famous and this Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet from the brilliant 2018 vintage is truly exceptional! Established in 1858 by English immigrant Edward Tyrrell, Tyrrell?s Wines is one of Australia?s pre-eminent family-owned wine companies with vineyards extending from their historic home on Broke Road in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales to their Heathcote vineyards in Victoria.
Tyrrell?s is home to some of Australia?s most awarded wines including the iconic Vat 1 Semillon, and in the last 40 years, Tyrrell?s has been awarded over 5,000 trophies and medals and been named ?Winery of the Year? in James Halliday?s Australian Wine Companion. 2018 served up a spectacular growing season for reds in the Hunter Valley with an early harvest, lower crops and amazing depth of flavours. The Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet is a modern style of Australian red that also respects the tradition of varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. The wine shows intense plum fruit characters from the Shiraz (90%) with dark berry and chocolate notes, while the Cabernet (10%) component adds to the length and fullness of the wine. Has already been cellared for a few years and is ready to drink but the wine will also benefit from further aging over the next 5-7 years.
Serve with roast beef, game casserole or even a roasted leg of lamb.
