A bold and exciting first for Whistler Wines, this Skin Contact release marks the winery’s entry into the world of orange wines. Crafted from a near-even blend of Semillon and Riesling grown under organic and biodynamic practices at the Heysen Estate, it embraces minimal intervention and a return to traditional, hands-off winemaking. While skin contact wines are rooted in ancient methods, they’ve found renewed appreciation among curious, forward-thinking wine lovers — and this expression captures that spirit beautifully. Aromatically, the wine opens with peach, mandarin peel and ruby grapefruit. The palate follows with bright minerality and tension, where Riesling’s natural acidity meets the textural grip of Semillon, delivering citrus flavours reminiscent of grapefruit pith and brown lime. Unfined and unfiltered, the wine has a naturally hazy appearance, with sediment settling in the bottle. Drink it cloudy with a gentle shake for added texture, or pour carefully to enjoy a clearer glass — the choice is yours. Best served lightly chilled around 12–14°C, it makes a brilliant aperitif and conversation starter. Delicious to enjoy now for its vibrancy and edge, yet with the structure to continue developing over the next few years. A confident, textural orange wine — expressive, raw and refreshingly honest.
