This is possibly the most crowd-pleasing wine we have on offer! From the award winning and fun NextGen range of Whistler Wines this wine is designed to be an easy drinking red wine that seriously over-delivers for the price – hence the apt name Shock Value. But make no mistake – the content is seriously high quality and well crafted! The Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache grapes were all harvested separately at optimum ripeness and destemmed in the vineyard before whole berry, natural fermentation was allowed to commence. Foot stomped twice daily in old concrete fermenters to minimise extraction, basket pressed and put to old French oak for 4 months. Each variety was kept separate until it was expertly blended just prior to bottling. The Shiraz component gives the wine a nice blue fruit character and good depth of flavour, the Mataro gives the wine structure and an earthy character, while the Grenache shows plenty of juicy red fruits. This is the perfect BBQ wine, but also works extremely well with roast poultry dishes. Drinks beautifully young but will develop for 5-7 years.
