Barossa Valley, South Australia
Coulter Wines is the creation of winemaker Chris Coulter — a long-time industry pro who traded big-company winemaking for the freedom of small-batch creativity. What began as inspiration from a friend’s garage project soon evolved into a label known for purity, precision, and a touch of playfulness.
Chris focuses on minimal-intervention, small-batch wines that highlight the fruit, not the winemaker’s hand. Sourcing premium grapes from the Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, and Riverland, he handpicks and crushes fruit the same day, basket-presses reds post-ferment, and lets gravity do the rest. Limited time in barrel keeps the wines bright, clean, and refreshingly vibrant — released within six months to capture their natural energy.
Now based in the Barossa with his wife and two kids, Chris continues to do what he loves most — making, sharing, and celebrating wines that speak for themselves.
Less interference, more personality — that’s the Coulter way.
