CHURCHVIEW
Nestled high in the mountains of Caravaca de la Cruz, in Spain’s Bullas DO, Bodegas Saura is a winery that connects deeply with both nature and history. Its vineyards sit between 600 and 900 metres above sea level, on limestone terraces that overlook the Sierra de las Cabras mountain range — a landscape rich in ancient caves, including the nearby Cueva Negra archaeological site.
Here, winemaking feels timeless. Fermentation and aging take place in tanks carved directly from local limestone, allowing the wines to breathe the same mineral air that shapes the soil. Working organically, the team cultivates Monastrell and Garnacha Fina bush vines by hand, harvesting each bunch with precision and respect for the land.
The result is a collection of elegant, structured wines that capture the essence of Mediterranean altitude — aromatic with wild herbs and spice, layered with red and black fruit, and grounded by the freshness of their mountain origins. Signature wines such as Cogevientos and Vinedos de Utopia embody the winery’s philosophy: wines that tell stories of place, patience, and purity.
Born from stone. Elevated by nature. Crafted for those who listen to the land.
Born from friendship and a love for the Barossa Valley, Forage Supply Co. is the creation of Scotty and Justin — two locals who decided to make wine a force for good. Together, they’ve built a label that blends great taste with greater purpose, producing approachable, minimal-intervention wines that are as easy to enjoy as they are easy on the planet.
Their partnership is pure yin and yang: Scotty, the well-travelled storyteller who can charm anyone into sharing a glass, and Justin — or “Juz” — the creative mind quietly shaping everything behind the scenes. What unites them is a shared belief that good wine should bring people together and give something back.
Forage Supply Co. follows sustainable practices, with the winery in organic conversion and every decision guided by a respect for the land’s finite resources. Beyond the vineyard, their social enterprise Forage Built helps people experiencing homelessness through sustainable housing, education, and employment opportunities.
The result is wine with heart — bright, fruit-driven, and made with purpose.
Good mates. Great wine. Real impact.
Poppy the Frenchie Wines was born from a family story — and a shared passion for dry French-style rosé. Winemaker Paggy and her mother, Julie, wanted to create wines that reflected their love of Grenache and the joy of working the land together. When Paggy asked to use the vineyard’s Grenache grapes for her first rosé, Julie agreed — on one heartfelt condition: that their beloved French Bulldog, Poppy, would grace the label. And so, Poppy the Frenchie Wines began.
The wines are handcrafted from handpicked and hand-pruned vines, with meticulous attention paid to every detail. Each barrel of Grenache is selected with care for balance and depth, while the rosé — famously Paggy’s first, in 2017 — achieved the perfect blush hue through her watchful patience during skin contact, earning a place in the Hot 100 Wines of South Australia.
Both wines are made in a pure, dry style and are 100% vegan — clarified naturally using plant-based methods that enhance texture and retain freshness. The result is a pair of small-batch wines that capture elegance, integrity, and a touch of whimsy — a lasting tribute to the spirit that inspired them.
Made with heart, crafted by hand
Sigurd Wines is the vision of winemaker Dan Graham — a modern storyteller guided by generations of family history and a deep reverence for the land. Named after his Norwegian great-grandfather, Sigurd, the label bridges past and present: Scandi sensibility meets Australian soil, minimal intervention meets mindful precision.
Rooted in family tradition, the story traces back to Dan’s great-grandparents, who grew grapes and stone fruit in South Australia, their harvests carted to the Barossa Valley in an old Bedford truck. Today, Dan continues that lineage through a modern lens — crafting wines that reflect connection, sustainability, and the quiet beauty of simplicity.
Sigurd’s philosophy is grounded in respect: for the vines, the soil, and the rhythms of nature. In the vineyard, Dan has been trialling a no-spray, no-cultivation approach since 2014 — reducing inputs, waste, and water use while enhancing natural fertility. This philosophy carries through to every bottle, where minimal intervention meets expressive detail.
From delicate Clare Valley Chenin Blanc to textured Grenache and Syrah blends, each wine reflects Dan’s pursuit of balance, honesty, and purity — wines that speak softly but linger long after the glass is empty.
Heritage in every vine. Progress in every pour.
Taltarni’s story begins with place — in the rugged, breathtaking Pyrenees of Victoria, where the land has been sculpted over millennia and treasured for more than a century of winegrowing. Established in 1969 by John Goelet — a descendant of the famed Guestier wine merchant family of Bordeaux — Taltarni was born from a global search for a site worthy of the world’s great vineyards.
With a pioneering spirit, the earliest plantings focused on classic Bordeaux varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The vineyard later expanded to include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier — building the foundations for a diverse and dynamic portfolio of sparkling, red and white wines that continue to reflect the strength of this remarkable region.
Here, stewardship matters. As custodians of this land for the last 50 years, the Taltarni team continues a multi-generational commitment to nurture the soil, preserve the landscape, and create wines that speak clearly of their origin — vibrant, elegant and enduring.
In the cellar, tradition and innovation share the same table. Whether it’s a refined sparkling, a bright white, or a bold Pyrenees red, Taltarni crafts wines with structure, freshness and personality — made for enjoyment, for bringing people together, and for celebrating the simple pleasure of good wine well made.
Born of place. Crafted with purpose.
Few names are as woven into Australia’s wine story as Tyrrell’s. Founded in 1858 by English immigrant Edward Tyrrell, the family planted their first Shiraz and Semillon vines in the Hunter Valley — beginning a legacy that now spans over 160 years and five generations.
Still family-owned and operated, Tyrrell’s remains a true pioneer of Australian winemaking. From the creation of the iconic Vat 1 Semillon to the groundbreaking Vat 47 Chardonnay, Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet and Vat 9 Shiraz, their wines have become benchmarks of quality and character — earning more than 5,000 awards along the way.
The estate’s vineyards stretch across the Hunter Valley and into Heathcote, Victoria, with some vines over a century old. Sustainability and stewardship are central to their philosophy, reflected in significant reductions in emissions and a deep respect for the land that continues to nurture their craft.
Visitors to the historic Pokolbin winery can experience guided tastings, tours, and a tangible connection to Australia’s winemaking heritage — where every bottle tells a story of place, patience, and passion.
Pioneers then. Perfectionists now.
